Adventures in the Dragons Realm Chapter Two "Learnning the way" by Lord Dizzy edited by Eric42 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The night had been uneventfull and my sleep had been light and not very helpfull. When the dawn broke over the mountains, I went to the bakers shop to get some breakfast of rye bread and milk. While I ate my food near the town well, I looked around to see just what this city had to offer. The town looked different in the light compared to the dark of last night. In the dark of night the town looked old and ransacked, but in the rays of the sun, I could see that my first assement was wrong. The building were in fact very well maintained, probality from all the gold that seemed to be all around from the other travelers who were in town for the same reason I was. The first place to open it's doors was the trainning hall. The person who opened the door was an older man who had wisps' of gray hair peppering this thick brown top and beard. He was coming out of his hall for a second time to post a banner on the side of the building announcing something of importance, at least that is what I got from all the commotion from several other travelers that had grouped around the sign. Next to open was the town smithe, who was getting ready to shoe some of the horses that were in the stable next to his shop. The next two guys to open up were a pair that shared the same building they were the armour and weaponier. The odd thing about them was the large number of wares they each had in their stores, yet I didn't notice any ingetts of steel in the smithes' shop for making fighting equipment. Somehow they had to get the equipment from somewhere but the question of "where" was escaping me at the moment. In the back of my mind I told myself that I would find out at a later date. With my recon of the town finished and my food gone, I felt it was time to go look at the banner that was of so much talk. As I approched the sign, the words at the top were bigger then the sign it's self or so it seemed. in bold face it read: WANTED.. KNIGHTS, MAGI, AND THEIFS for the service of the realm, brave souls willing to fight the creatures of the land that are controled by the RED DRAGON. Any whom take of this offer will be given GOLD and credit towards farther training at this hall of chivalry Now there was something that I did not expect, I mean did it really say a red dragon. I had heard all the stories of dragons and mythical monsters, but here was the writting on the wall and it was signed by the king himself. There had to be a real dragon or this king would have been made a laughing-stock of it was not true. Now that my intrest was caught, I took a look at the sign over the door that read "Turgon's Warrior Training". Just inside the doors, I saw the largest inside area I had ever seen outside of a kings court or within a churches walls. Men and squires of all ages slashed, conjured, and lurked about this place of learning. At the front table sat a lad of no more then ten years of age scribbing a book of records. I ask the lad about the sign and just who I would recieve the gold from that was mentioned in it's ink. He proceded to talk in a way that I had never heard before. (this was a strange town indeed) "Well..Ya See..(a cross of southern & bronx) yose..got to go thru _R_ 11 step pro'gram first..ya start with that little wimp of an id'jut over ther.. his name be Halder..if you can kick his lame, grayhound looking hide..yose get marked in this book, and get a better price for the garbage out in the woods." A better price? A price for what? "Well.." he continued "as of this moment..yose got nose training according to myse book here. And you'll get 5 gold per body..BUT.. if yose beat girlie-boy over ther's.. yo'll get 10 per head..GOT IT?.. GOOD NOW SIGN THE BOOK.." I signed my name on the dotted line."Tanks Mac..now go woop him.. HEY HADLER..HERES A NOTHER ONE!"
